2026 Welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse beginning on February 17th and ending on February 5, 2027
Moving from the Snake to the Horse
The snake year moves us from inner alchemy to outward embodiment. The snake taught us how to shed. The horse asks us to embody the transformation.
The snake year was a time of renewal it invited continual growth and tending to the inner soil so that new life could emerge. It asked us to slow down, to shed old skins, to release identities, break patters and fears that no longer fit us. Each layer we shed made room for a truer version to emerge. The snake deepened our capacity to let go. Preparing us to hold greater awareness and power. The snake refined our inner wheel, the horse now expands your outer one.
Tending your Fire

The horse will require that you tend your inner and outer fire with consciousness and balance. Fire can create chaos with friction, cultivating fire with consciousness creates grounded movement. Working this way is Yin and Yang in an alchemical configuration.
“I am living in a time of great transformation, how shall I participate in it towards the health of everything”
Spirited Action and Independence
The horse holds power and speed and action, in a fire sign the energy shifts are fast and move inwardly and outward like sparks in a fire. The horse moves with powerful strength and courage. A horse’s spirit is most alive when it is free to run and roam in the wild open landscape, but the horse always moves with clear intention. The fire horse year ignites passion, it illuminates and inspires. The element of fire strikes fast and it can be clearing, but also destructive if not tended to consciously.
Heart and Kidney Communicating
The element of fire rules the Heart and the Pericardium channels as well as the Small Intestine and San Jiao. The spirit, the heart protector, the waterway system and the separator of pure and impure. The inner and outer nature of the fire horse will cultivate how we see ourselves and how we bring that forth into our environments. A direction that moves with intention is a key to not burning out or burning up. True strength and power require regulation, respect and awareness of cause and effect.

The Dance of Fire and Water
Temperance comes to mind when I reflect on the Year of the Fire Horse. Temperance calls on us to take the middle path, to seal the union with ourselves, then starting from this point to deal with the rest of the world. Temperance ensures that energies and fluids can communicate with each other, this is reflective of the dance of Fire and Water. In Chinese medicine we call this the Heart and Kidney in communication. Within the energy of temperance there are no more opposing energies, no more opposites, but only complementarities. When the Heart (fire) and the Kidney (water) are in free flow communication there is a return to health of the spirit, mental and emotional balance with the power of a rooted and balanced will. The control of the passions not through repression but through sublimation. In harmonious communication the Kindey’s water element nourishes and anchors the Heart’s fire element.
“Find your center, your vital pendulum must avoid extremes; go the middle way. Carry your power and fire spirit within a balanced state of inner and outer reflection.”
-Dr. Jean M. Loscalzo
